The Indian Research Space Organisation (ISRO) published the first image(on octomber 17, 2019) of the surface of the moon captured by the Imaging Infrared spectroscope (IIRS) payload on-board Chandrayaan2. The Indian Research Space Organisation (ISRO) published the first image(on October 17, 2019) of the lunar surface(Chandrayaan 2) of the moon captured by the Imaging Infrared spectroscope (IIRS) payload onboard Chandrayaan2.

The image covers a part of the satellite farside within the hemisphere. a couple of outstanding craters (Sommerfield, Stebbins, and Kirkwood) are seen within the image.

The IIRS on-board Chandrayaan-2 is meant to live the daylight(sunlight) and emitted a part of Moon light-weight from the satellite surface in slender and contiguous spectral channels (bands) starting from ~800 – 5000 nm (0.8-5.0 mm (um)), ISRO said in official statements.

“The major objective of IIRS is to know the origin and evolution of the Moon in an exceeding earth science context by mapping the satellite surface mineral and volatile composition signatures within the mirrored star spectrum. The variations within the spectral radiance ar primarily because of the mineralogical or integrative variations that exist within the satellite surface and additionally because of the result of space weathering,” the space agency said.

Earlier this month, the ISRO had release pictures of the moon’s surface clicked by satellite(Orbiter) high-resolution Camera (OHRC) on-board Chandrayaan-2.

The Lander with success separated from Chandrayaan-2 satellite on September 2. when revolving the Earth’s orbit for nearly twenty-three days, the craft began its journey to the laze August 14.
